General Practitioners - special interst in children

As part of medical training all doctors spend some time in medical school doing basic paediatrics which encompasses medical and surgical problems unique to infants and children. In addition after graduating many general practitioners will have a component of paediatrics as part of their postgradutate general practice training. This the case for Australian trained general practitioners who have done postgraduate general practice training.

Unfortunately this training has not always been undertaken if a doctor has not gone through the post graduate training program. Some overseas trained doctors particularly will not have the training that is required in Australia in the areas of paediatrics. This is an unfortunate reality. (Remember also that some overseas trained doctors in some instances may have had extensive training so be carefule with generalisations and assumptions. )

This is a list of general practice doctors who are very focussed towards paediatrics and the current guidelines for managing childhood conditions on the Sunshine Coast.
